| CHRONOLOGY Contretype, Contemporary Photographic Art Centre in Brussels: Contretype has been promoting and exhibiting creative photography at both regional and international level since 1978. Active in the areas of production, dissemination and publishing, Contretype contributes to developing the artistic careers of numerous authors, creates a link between artists, the general public, the media, curators, commissioners and collectors. Contretype organizes events that inspire reflection, debate and writing on contemporary photography. Based since 1988 in the sumptuous Art Nouveau town house built in 1903 in Saint-Gilles by Edouard Hannon, a founding member of the Association belge de photographie, Contretype has used this space to develop a cultural project in keeping with the interests and innovative spirit of its first owner. Past exhibitions : Contretype presents five exhibitions of contemporary artists per year, individual and collective exhibitions of both Belgian and foreign photographers.
